PATIENT INFORMATION

 

Appointment Details

 

All ultrasound services are by appointment only.  Please call our office to set up an appointment.

 

All X-ray services are on a first come first serve basis.   Wait times may vary daily.  Please call ahead to enquire. 

 

You must bring the REQUISITION, signed by your physician, and your HEALTH CARD to all appointments.  We reserve the right to reschedule your appointment if you do not bring the requisition or health card.

 

Please arrive 10-15mins prior to your appointment to register.  If you are late for your appointment, or if you are not properly prepared (please see preparations below), you will be rescheduled. 

 

A 24 hours notice is required to change or cancel an appointment.  You may be charged for the missed    appointment.

 

 

         Patient Preparation

 

         Abdominal Ultrasound:

 

         Nothing to eat or drink after midnight.  Small quantities of water is allowed.

 

Pelvic Ultrasound (Male & Female); Obstetrical Ultrasound (16 weeks or under, Nuchal Translucency (IPS)). 

 

Finish drinking 5 glasses of 8oz water one hour before the start of your examination. 

Do not void or use the washroom.  A full bladder is necessary for the examination. 

If it is difficult to hold the water, you may let a little bit out, but try to maintain most of the water inside. 

If it is difficult to finish 5 glasses of water, you may aim to drink 3 – 4 glasses of 8oz water, provided that it is still finished 1 hour prior to the start of your examination.

 

Abdominal and Pelvic Ultrasound Together:

 

When having these two tests done at the same time, you must follow the instructions below:

 

Nothing to eat or drink after midnight.

Scrotal/ Thyroid/ Breast Ultrasound:

 

No preparation is required

 

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound:

 

No preparation is required. 

*If you are coming for a shoulder ultrasound, you may want to bring or wear a thinned strap tank top.  For a knee or hamstring ultrasound, you may want to bring or wear shorts*.

 

Vascular

 

No preparation is required.

 

X-ray

 

No preparation is required.

 

Prostate Biopsy

 

Follow the instructions given to you by your urologist.

 

Patient Records

 

We need 24 hours notice in order to prepare your health records for specialist appointments.  We charge a flat fee of $10 cash per CD , for administrative purposes.  For this fee, you will get one CD with your images and report.  Additional CD’s and reports are at an extra charge.  This is not covered by OHIP.
